Welcome to Retail COP - Halton Region. Retail COP is an effective, efficient and innovative crime prevention tool for all Halton Region businesses. Strong partnerships between the Halton Regional Police Service and local business Asset Protection Officers has led to the creation of this program, which has a proven record for increasing arrest and prosecution rates among criminals who target our businesses. We hope to empower Asset Protection Officers with this tool, and allow them to recognize the criminals who target our businesses.

To help serve a community of approximately 550,000 residents, The Halton Regional Police Service works diligently with our business and community partners to help keep our region safe. The Retail COP program is another great tool allowing the service to share even more information with our community business partners.

The goal of this site is to empower Asset Protection Officers and help them to recognize the criminals who target our businesses. It will also assist the Halton Police Service in locating, identifying and charging criminals responsible for Retail Thefts.

Shoplifting may seem insignificant but it has substantial ramifications to the community and market as a whole. Canadian Statistics suggest retail theft costs Canadians $4,000,000,000 per year.

The simple act of sharing information will allow Police, business Owners and Asset Protection Officers to recognize risks and take significant preventative steps to eliminate the problem.
